Pioneering Ethical Governance
& Responsibility AI in Public Safety

For over four decades, Optimum Technology has been at the forefront of providing B2G solutions, with a specific focus on justice and public safety. With 30+ years of expertise our work has been instrumental in shaping the landscape of law enforcement information sharing and data connectivity projects. Our approach to the development of artificial intelligence solutions has evolved from our depth of expertise as early pioneers in the development of the architecture, as well as more than two decades of experience integrating data systems is now underpinned by an astute commitment to ethical governance and responsible design and development, as regulation of artificial intelligence continues to unfold.  Optimum Technology is dedicated to responsible and ethical partnerships to ensure public trust and responsible development, as we partner with state and local government entities to address complex challenges in public safety.

Ethical & Responsible AI:
Our Core Principles

At Optimum Technology, we believe in the power of AI to transform justice and public safety, but we also recognize the critical importance of Ethical and Responsible AI. Our awareness and vigilance extend to emerging trends and procedural guidelines, both nationally and internationally, including those set forth by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). We understand that the deployment of AI in justice and public safety must prioritize fairness, transparency, and accountability, ensuring that these systems operate within a framework that respects civil liberties and builds public trust.

The AI landscape is constantly evolving, and recent regulatory developments, such as the enforcement of the EU AI Act effective August 1, 2024, have created ripples throughout the industry that may inevitably influence federal and state policies in the United States.  We are keenly aware of the emergence and evolution of state regulations, from California and Colorado to the emerging government offices tasked with developing responsible, economically growth sustainably in Utah.   Like the impact of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), these rules and regulations and their enforcement have introduced new standards for AI development and deployment, emphasizing the need for robust ethical frameworks and stringent oversight.

As state and local public safety experts work to align their policies with these emerging standards, Optimum Technology remains committed to guiding our partners through these changes. We actively engage with industry leaders and participate in critical discussions, including our participation in the IJIS Artificial Intelligence Working Group. Our approach is centered on building AI with these insights in mind, ensuring that our solutions are not tailored to any single entity but rather reflect a broader commitment to ethical standards and public trust.
